casio ev-570 pale colors?

I just recieved my casio ev-570 in the mail, and tested it with a few game systems via the av jack. However, the colors are wierd. for example, The Legend of Zelda on NES, all the brighter colors are very pale, and the green rocks (where shops are attached to) have red and blue dots in them. In super mario kart on snes, all the colors are paler.these are just examples the screen makes everything paler, and the brightness dial doesn't make much of a difference. Is this the way the casio is, of is there a dial or switch I am not finding that fixes this?

Experiment with putting a resistor in-line. The input is REALLY sensitive on the casios. Most TVs expect a 75ohm load, which the consoles output. The casios need a little weaker signal. If you go too low the signal will get distorted, so just play around until you get the right level.

I actually looked for a mention of this in the book, but it wasn't there.

Itried about 20 resistors I had lying around. Some made video stay the same, some made it worse, but none made it better. Shound I try that video mod for the nes in ben's book? I says in the book that without the mod, the nes would lok weak on a casio tv. However, I am using a retro duo instead.

If you have any 75ohm resistors, try that. Variable pots (like volume control dials) are the best way to test in this case, if you have any laying around that might be in the right range.

If the video signal is too strong, it will cause the colors to wash out, exactly like you were describing. No, Ben didn't have it in his book, But i've had this problem on 3 different casio screens. 2 EV-680s, and one EV-4500. It was the same case on all of them.

wait, so you are saying that the screen is broken? Or are you saying you forgot that casios had pale colors?

does it matter what watt the 75 ohm resistor is?

No any size is fine. There isn't really a large amount of power in a video signal.
75ohm should get you close, but if not try a variable pot and just measure it after you find the right value.
