Switch between 2 gamecube memory cards

Post by ShockSlayer »

Or really, a Gamecube memory card an an sd card.

Basically, I want to have an sd card slot an a gc memory card both harwired to the gamecube, and a switch to choose between the two.

Anyone know how to do this?

I'd assume cutting off vdd to the one you want off would do it, but don't quote me on that.

that'd be an SD gecko. I don't think it actually functions as memory card.

I'd use 4066 IC or two connected to switch all the lines at the same time using a single pole double throw switch.

What is pin 3? is it the same as GND?

Initialize most likely. Not GND.

This is one of the reasons I'd switch all the lines at once using solid-state switches.

Yes, I would agree with you on that one. I tried so many darn things. None of them worked, But I only had a SPDT. I think I could do it with a better switch.

I put one on sense, and that lets me "remove" and "plug in" the memory card, and then just wired the sd slot directly to it. Apparently, all the apps I use can recognize the d without any damage and have the gamecube mem card on. I just have to take it out, and then throw the switch twice, and then it works normally again. Works great for my use.

:D I like your idea much better though, albeit it seems a bit complicated. Care to explain a bit more?

Not really all that complicated, 4066 (Mouser and Digikey stock them) chips work like a relay, just with no moving parts and they need power all the time. Though, you'd need 3 of them as each chip switches 4 lines IIRC.
