No, because anywhere still selling it thinks it only works with a video game console.

I ordered 4 myself (at 30% off) but the price keeps dropping. now it's 16, and I ordered it at 18 pounds. I'll probably buy some more at the end of the month, you can never have enough of these, especially at that price.

This is great news, will help those who want to buy my kits if they can buy such cheap screens.

No point having too many though; one per each project you intend to make, and a spare is all you "need"!

I may well get another couple when mine arrives and I have checked it out.

If the Madcatz screen uses 9V, how should it be configured in Harshboy's diagram? Is it really just as easy as using a 9V battery and ignoring the "over 9V battery extension" by wiring the screen straight up to the battery?

You are better just keeping the the standard 7-8v power deviouskoopa, as the PSone screen is designed to take; not via the regulator, unless you have a good reason to do otherwise.

That's really not thinking globally. Pretty much everyone uses them, won't help your customers any less than anybody else, but not any more either.

As for buying more than needed, I don't need any of them right now, but can't say no at that price.

EDIT:

copulate. Two of the screens have a different box (that says 5,4" as advertised) and the screens displayed. If you order from that link, you MIGHT get the wrong kind of screen!

I haven't looked at the quality of the other screens yet, but they're different. Pictures:

These screens are PAL which of course won't help many people on this forum as they use NTSC of course; however it is good news for the rest of us! (for a change).

Thing is, if they are sold cheaply as PS2 screens for PAL they must also be sold in NTSC countries with NTSC. That is good news for all. What I was referring to was that if there is a cheap source for screens, then it makes making portables far cheaper, which is good news; also, easier to get them too, so anyone who wants one can get one.

Come on, Kyo; open the screen up and give us pics - and confirm it is a PSone screen and mobo inside to the same size we all know and love (and they haven't changed boards to something else in recent months).

Not got mine yet; sure it will come soon - had confirmation e-mail today.

Edit - see you are opening up the systems, good.

Bad news - looks like the upright one is not the same - can't see how it can be, even the contrast and volume controls are different.

Hope this isn't the case, mine is on way and I bought from Amazon with the link you gave me...

Here's an update that may disappoint: If you ordered from amazon and got a 5,4" screen, you may as well redirect the package straight to the trash. The picture quality is horrible. HORRIBLE. I'm using the PSOne config screen as a test (cd player, memory card management) and it's not even displaying the memory card or the background..

you may now think that the picture is exaggerating the quality negatively, but it really isn't. Make it less blurry, and you got what it's displaying. These 5,4" screens are crap

bacteria, I doubt there is a powerplay in america. Zenith and madcatz got the NTSC screens.

It ain't got screws. Also, I want to return it as defective (COME ON, LOOK AT IT!)

Oh well, even if I don't get two new 5" screens or my money back, it's still a pretty ok deal, 40€ per screen.

edit:
not being the guy who gives up quickly, I wanted to see what it would look like ingame. It appears it somehow did some sort of configuration, and now looks much better. You can actually see shapes. It's still not the best quality, the angle isn't very good and the picture is kind of blurry, but it's better. It should also be noted that the cable it came with came with a loose wire. I'll try my best to get this and the other screen returned. If I can't, I'll use it for a project that doesn't need super high quality screens. I don't know, I'll think of something.

Thats why I asked before Kyo. Noticed on the amazon page that the screen had 3 buttons, not the 4 of the usual screens.

And darn, mines just been shipped so I can't cancel the order. Just hope I get a good one. If not, I'll be making a NES. Nice screen, Gamecube or Dreamcast.
