Psone screens, Zenith screens, and.....Madcatz screens? 56k

I opened up a madkatz screen, tht I suspected of being a psone, after seeing the volume and contrast buttons location. Here is what I found. I have never heard of these screens before, and I cannot tell what console it was designed for. But its a psone screen inside! Also, what I find interesting is that it was powered off of 9 volts, something I've heard that fries the psone screen. it went into a regulator. What system runs off of 9v? It also had to spots on the back for screws. They even went as far as to extend the original speakers and cut off a bit of the screen at the top.

What is the screen called?
How much did it cost?
Where did you get it?

MadCatz screens were already established as being PSOne screens. Also, regular PSOne screens can be powered off 9.0Volts, just no higher (I.E. 9.1V won't work, though it's not an instant kill of the screen). I've powered one off a 9.0Volt Li-Ion pack (the same one Ben had in his PS2p).

At this point the only thngs I know are:

Its made by madkatz
it cost 45 at the flea market
the flea market.

ive known about the psone verge and zeniths being the same thing but madkatz is news to me

Really? Maybe I saw it on another site then. Either that, or nearly everyone here forgot as the screens aren't easy to find and fairly expensive.

We should use this thread to show all the brands and models from different places which use PSone screens. Kyo brought a PS2 screen to my attention, highlighted by Warp on page 2 of "screens you can and cannot use", which is also supposed to use the PSone screen and mobo - ordered one, either Kyo or I can show you more pics of it (depending on which of us gets it first from the supplier).

Just so you know, that regulator is horribly inefficient. My Zenith screens have it, and they run off a 12v adaper. No real use in a portable, much better to work at 7-8v, or use a better regulator.

yep. Read one post above yours for the original source. I even PMed Warp for verification the other day. It may say 5,6" on the package, but it's a psone screen. A PAL one, though.

Yep, 85 on ebay, $45 anywhere else. Since its not a specific console, or known as the psone screen, its much cheaper anywhere else.
