gamecube screen power output [solved]

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

gamecube screen power output [solved]

Post by zhinchliffe »

Hello everyone. I have a gamecube mobile screen that I am intending to hack to my NES. basically what I want to use it for is a detachable mobile screen for use in cars rather than a true portable system. video is no problem as the NES can output analog video right to its external jacks. the real question here is the output - since I don't want to use two power adapters.

the screen has a DC 12V power output that goes normally to a gamecube, so you don't have to use two power adapters for taking the cube on the go. Is there any way to limit this to 9V so I can use it harmlessly with the NES? or will it even be harmful? (i'm assuming so, but I could be wrong.)

(note: i'm a hacking nublet so please don't answer sarcastically or caustically, we all have to start from somewhere.)

the NES trims down the power to 5V internally with a 7805, so powering it with 12V will be fine.
