I need help! I have a Clie TH 55 and I want to change the OS on it, but cannot seem to find any options. I would really like to put Linux on it and Linpus looks like the right thing, but Im not sure.

I think on most Palm OS units, the system software is stored in ROM, which can't be erased or overwritten.

A couple minutes of Google searching only bring up information on syncing the unit with a Linux desktop, not installing the system onto the device. And, I can't find anything about installing it on Palm devices. Just use Palm OS. It's not as good as Windows Mobile, but it's a hell of a lot better than the PDA Linux ports.

There's few Linux ports to Palm handheld hardware at http://hackndev.com/ but no ports to a Clie. It's not as easy to get Linux on a handheld as it is on a desktop system, due to how the hardware is made(custom designs and often even custom chips that drivers have to be written for).

If I'm understanding your post correctly, no. There's apps like PalmVNC where you could connect to a Linux system and see it's screen, but no emulator that I know of that'd work at a decent speed.
