analog sticks above d-pad

Post by exploding.monkey »

i see in many portables where the analog sticks go ABOVE the d-pad and the action buttons (or whatever they're called).

is this really more comfortable?

Yes, and more natural to use, if swapping between the controls; your fingers naturally elevate to the top of the case, so having a joystick in the middle and d-pad above would not work as well. Also, your palm needs to assist holding a case while you use a joystick, as support - you don't get this if the joystick is at the bottom.

So, naturally feeling controls means either joystick above d-pad or to the right of it, if case is big enough / controller.

yeah, when i was playing around with some stuff to see where i would like the controls to go, i found that my thumbs went near the top and that it felt more comfy for my thumbs to go DOWN to hit triangle, square, circle and x buttons then to go DOWN for analog sticks.

my only concern is it looking a bit...ugly.
