Mario wrote:Wait. Explain, please. I haven't heard of F-Zero. What is it? And what I'm saying is, make an adapter that has cartridge pins at one end and the DD plug at the other. This would work (I think) because the expansion pins are connected straight to the cartridge slot pins. The only problem with this idea is that you can only use it for expansion-only setups, you can't put a cartridge in at the same time.
...................... NEVER HEARD OF F-ZERO?!? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, MAN?! Google it, it is only one of the premeir nintendo series.

You dern kids wif yer new-fangled toys like the wii and dee-ess! Just cuz ther be no NEW titles, ya dont even know about it! /oldmanrant.

Your idea would work for MOST titles, but there are a few left. And if I am going to go to the trouble to put an almost useless post on my device, I am making darn sure that it is 100% compatible!

Ouch.

Sorry for my ignorance. Just played the game for N64, it's really fun. I've seriously never heard of it, don't flame too hard, lol.

Yeah, most of C.Falcon's popularity is with the Smash crowd.

I am within this close of sigging your fzero confession.

Try the gamecube ones, they are cool. And although the SNES one is very different, it still pwns, and has the song "Big Blue". Favorite racing song, evar.

I just came up with a concept for the smallest volume N64p, will post when it is done. It involves very large fins. :D

At least I'd be a little better known around here. :) But for the wrong reasons.

I can't play the Gamecube one, there aren't any emulators for GC. Whoops, I mean, it's too late to go out and buy the game right now. I will check out the SNES one, though.

Gamestop has it for like $5. :D

Or do you lack a gamecube? And there are GC emulators, check out Dolphin.

I have a gamecube, but I don't feel like asking my parents to drive me to a game store to get a game. I'm only 15, can't drive quite yet.

And I don't feel like waiting for ROMs to download. I'll just take your word that the game is awesome. :)

FYI, the N64 reads from storage devices (such as a cartridge, SRAM, or 64DD) through a parallel interface called PI. It has four "domains", which means you can theoretically have 4 devices all connected to the cartridge slot and the N64 can read/write between them. This is how the 64dd and F-zero cartridges can be working at the same time.

No.
But I've read every thread on the first 5 pages of every forum, and every build thread of every portable logged on this site.
I'm a Kyo in the making.

Actually, I'm at the "Why the hell aren't my parts here yet" stage of an N64p.

Thanks for the info! Does that mean that it would be as simple as making a cart that splits off into an expansion port AND a cart connector on the same lines? That would be sweet! :D

Ah yes, I was ready to smack you down on the internal cart slot part. That will never be accepted as a requirement.

It's just I really don't like people who haven't built portables giving advice on them...

No hard feelings! :D

Hard feelings? This is the internet!
Of course I see where you're coming from.
I just think that something can't be thinnest if the external cart makes it twice as thick.

Let's get creative here, there's gotta be a sexy way to do an internal cart.
