My 6th is better than the 5th. I left out the exp because no one plays half the games that need it, and the ones that do aren't exactly games you play all the time. But palmer, if you really think its needed, fine. But the bar has already been set. As good as he is, benheck doesn't decide the definition of portables, we all do. And we have spoken.

Mario sums it up quite well:
A portable should have, by definition:
A controller
Screen
Console
Batteries
all enclosed in a case. That's really the bare minimum.
Seeing as this topic has gone far off into theory and definitions, I win because no one else has submitted their size and completed one with the above criteria.

Oh, and anything is portable if you want it to be. I can pick up my 360 and take it with me and its portable.

Again, never said it was *needed*. It is only needed if you are making a COMPLETE portable. My goal is to make the smallest COMPLETE n64p, and after that, an N64p in a gamegear (Which will lack all of these extra features)

And I defy you to say it is impossible. Come on, say it. SAY IT! So that I can prove you wrong.

In the end, it really comes down to me, a highly sensitive person who still has yet to finish a portable, wanting to say I have the best complete N64p. If that means some of my arguments make no sense, so be it. :P

Also, your package is shipped via priority mail, SS. Should be there is 2-3 days.

Also, project LASER (As outlined in the PM I sent you a day or two back) is going live new years day. )

We should throw all the people on this forum in a room with a dozen N64, controllers, screens, different batteries and all tools and parts required. The outcome would either be a really sweet N64 or a lot of broken bones and hurt feelings

Most likely the second one. But then, once the carnage stops and the dust settles, one emerges from the rubble... it is none other than ShockSlayer, clutching a hot glue gun and his N64p #7!

that's true. He's so fast at building these now, he'll be done before we even had time to start talking him into making a real case

Not complete, a complete portable is just a finished portable with batteries and such. What you're talking about is a 100% compatible N64p (make sure it has controller ports so you can plug in the mic for "Hey you Pikachu" and the EXT port for the 64DD). Ya, I'll get technical and require you to have an EXT port. :P

 Thanks guys. Chances are, #7 would be like #6 but with an internal cart slot. Oh, and I'll make the case out of hot glue :)

I was going to leave out the EXT port for the N64DD, but you know what, I have a little bit of space!

Here is an idea: Use an external 50 pin SCSI cable connector, wire all the ends to the cart slot. Using this, you could plug in backup units, ANOTHER cart slot ( ) or, indeed, the N64DD. All it would require is a bit of wiring to the connector, which is not that big. :D

Probably the most useless feature ever, but I could never claim a "complete" portable without it. :P

For the controller ports, a space saving idea I had was to use a ps/2 keyboard connector hooked up to the right pins, then having a small box with 4 controller ports that I could plug into it if needed.

Palmertech, from now on, I want you to say compatible portable, not complete, okay?

Good idea with the PS/2 connector, I may use that idea for my portable, but maybe a different plug.

And yes, say compatible, not complete. :P

Fair enough.

I will make the first "Compatible" N64p (Which happens to be complete, as in complete feature set.) :P

I am pretty sure it will be the first N64DD compatible one (You may have had the port, but it would not have clipped on)

You could save space in the case by making an N64DD adapter. The expansion slot is connected directly to the cart port, you could just modify a cartridge, so you plug it in to the N64p cart slot, then to the DD...

But you can't use the DD and a cart at the same time.

Wrong. How do you think the F-Zero level editor works?

I may be wrong, but I think that there are a few cart/DD combos. Not all games use all the pins; SSB only uses 22, for example (I think).

Wait. Explain, please. I haven't heard of F-Zero. What is it? And what I'm saying is, make an adapter that has cartridge pins at one end and the DD plug at the other. This would work (I think) because the expansion pins are connected straight to the cartridge slot pins. The only problem with this idea is that you can only use it for expansion-only setups, you can't put a cartridge in at the same time.
