Weird Yobo

I recently got one of the 72-pin Yobos, and it seems really picky about the power you give it. If you give 5 or 6 volts to the NOAC directly, it won't power up. If I use a 7805, then it will work with an AC adapter. But it won't run on batteries without the Yobo's original power board. There doesn't appear to be anything important on the power board- just a couple transistors, a few capacitors and 2 diodes. No other NOAC I've had has required the power board. Anyone know why it would be doing this?

are you sure you connected it right? I heard some of these are mislabeled

Yeah, I connected it right. It turns out one of my battery holders was defective.

It will run off batteries through a 7805 now, but I still find it odd that it refuses to run off unregulated power.

EDIT: I have another problem, though. The video coming off the NOAC is pretty weak. I've tried using the video amp from Ben's book, but it's not helping.
