it must have something to do with refresh or something. I had a similar problem when trying to play my NES on my portable DVD player: most of the time it would be fine, but some menus would be split in half like bad tracking (bottom half was on top and top half on bottom).

I am not much of a 360 expert, but are there settings for NON hdtv displays? I doubt that your DVD player is HD.

Did the settings get reset back to defaults or are they still in HDTV Mode? You might have to manually set the video settings to 480i.

You've checked that your TV supports 60 hz (or whatever it says on the game discs, it might be different in your country)?
