ok so im trying to replace my joystick from my 3rd party controller. i got it to work with a ps2 pot joystick but the resistence was off and in a game you could only walk, not run. so i bought a official gamecube controller and am trying to use that joystick but i cant get it to work.
ive tried hooking up the original and it still works correctly, but just not with the C-joystick from the GC controller.
the controller i have is a Sumo N64 controller, anyone successfully replaced a joystick on one of these? or should i just buy a Superpad like from the tutorial

does it have 4 joystick leads like the c-pad?

yes it does have 4 leads, but i did notice one thing, when looking at the bottom of the joystick, there are actually 6 leads going into the board. on the sumo controller 2 sets of 2 were soldered together to make it 4 leads, but on the GC joystick none are connected together, and i tested this out with a multimeter as well. heres some pics of what im talking about
