Half-dead 360 - 1 red light error.

Post by Aurora A14 »

I've got a half-dead 360 laying in front of me right now. It's confirmed to at least be alive through about 30 minutes of switching on and off - it managed to boot at least once.

I have no idea what revision it is, but it's a Halo 3 limited edition, case is in -really- good quality. 12v amperage is 16.5a according to the back. It has the extra GPU heatsink. It has an HDMI port.

As far as I can tell, and I've researched a bit into this, this is a problem with the display adaptor or something. It's been a while since I've checked. Console had never been taken apart until I got my hands on it, so I know that it's happened naturally.

I have no idea if/how this is fixable, but I'm assuming the worst. Anyone here have any suggestions on what to try to attempt to fix it?

If you need more info on its current state, I'll happily get it.

1 light errors give a code on the screen i.e. "E 74"

look up the code and then you'll know what the problem is (google it).

In my experience, though, most 1 lights are bad news.

I've already looked up the E-error - it's a problem with the display convertor or something... I'd probably have to look it up again, but I can't right now, sorry

It's most likely an E74 which is a problem with the GPU (rarely) the (H)ANA chip or a connection somewhere in between. There are fixes out there for it, but don't always work - google it. Team HYBRID has a fix tutorial for it somewhere... unsure of the link at the moment.
