Ni-Mh battery

I know you need a protection circuit for lithium batteries, but is a protection circiut needed for an Ni-Mh?

Strictly speaking, no.

Unlike a Lithium pack, a Ni-Mh will not explode if you over charge or over discharge it. However like all other batteries over-discharging will ruin them. Also it's a good idea to have a way to automatically stop the battery charging, otherwise the cells will fry.

I've never seen a protection module for Ni-Mh batteries. However batteries are not my area of expertise, especially in this area.
