My build plan is to make the screen for the gamecube portable fold down (instead of having it in the actual body) and on the back of the screen I am going to put the disc drive. Hopefully this will allow me to increase the total thickness (with screen folded down) without the device becoming less portable. I'll probably use wing nuts at the hinges so the screen doesn't flop around on me.
I also plan on having external controller ports (with a cable from the built in controller plugged into port 1) and built in memory card ( I may decide to make it external so I can switch it between wii and gamecube).
Power Requirements
The Gamecube is 12v and uses 1250mah
The Psone screen is ~7.4v and uses ~900 Mah
1. Power source with an ouput of 12v and at least 3500ma
2. Integrated circuit for charging
3. 100ohm 1/4 watt resistor (for psone screen)
I have a couple questions.
To be able to put the cd drive on the back of the psone screen I'll either need to buy a ribbon cable and some connectors to go from motherboard to the cd drives circuit board. I don't what the connectors are called though.
Here's the female on the mother board:

and the male on the cd drive's:

Or I could extent the ribbons from the cd drives circuit board to the cd drive and attach the board to the mother board.
(These are the ribbon cables I would need to extend)

Any suggestions?
