The only problem is that their batteries aren't as small as the BatterySpace Polymers I got.

Cheaper though.
And you can take apart the packs and put the cells wherever there's room.

But you're right.

Do you need a protection circuit for those, or is it built in? (To charge just attach voltage to the wires)

I just bought another 5 of the Canon BP-915 batteries for a total of £38.90 including postage; works out at £7.78 each ($11.55, 8.32 Euro): from E-bay. Same batteries as I normally get; 2000mA, 7.4v. Means in a portable, like my current one, which uses 3 packs, it costs me about £23 for 6000mA 7.4v cells. Cheap!!
