GameCube Laptop - some questions

I've already removed some of the extraneous ports from the motherboard but have a two questions that I need to ask before proceeding.

1) How exactly are the powerlines of the same voltage for the regulator and mobo bridged? Just with solder?

2) I'm looking to keep all 4 controller ports but I don't want to keep the board. How would I connect the 4 controller ports to the mobo?
