Has anyone actually used one? Or seen one for sale? I think it would be awesome to have one, the only problem is that I'd probably kill myself with it (just because the ball doesn't break, doesn't mean you won't splat on the inside of the ball).
Something like this would probably be more practical.

I always thought of building something like that, sucks someone beat me to it, but hey, what's new?
My idea involved sensors galore, so that it was like a fully-immersed 3D shooter, perhaps an army training simulator, with a gun to boot, also loaded with sensors.
Then there's an actual mode of transportation, the dude who made a wheel with a motor. But i'm talking a full two story gyroscope machine of death.

To build your own large clear bubble, I suppose you could take a couple of those giant inflatable snow globe yard ornaments (you'd need two as only half is typically clear). Hmm... on second thought, maybe just normal plastic sheets (like those used to seal window drafts during the winter) and cut it into strips like a beachball, and then heat-weld (there's an Instrucatable on how to do this) or glue the parts together.

Build one! The sensors aren't that hard to do, look at the World of Warcraft treadmills that people are building. You could mount a modded ball mouse, or maybe a trackball underneath to send what direction you're going, and then use software to interpret that into whatever the game needs to move. You'd probably be best off having a large external screen (build a projector perhaps?), a curved screen would be awesome. Then, use a Wii remote for the interaction (in a gun attachment if that suits the application).Kyo wrote:i so want one
