screen problem

im building a portable nes and while testing and relaxing playing a game of mario on it the dvd player i am using for my screen it got really bright. The video still comes in but the screen is bright white. Any input by anbody

Normally, a screen going whiter and whiter until bright white means the screen isn't getting a video signal.

actually, no video signal should be black on most screens. When a screen is all white it could mean that only the backlight is getting power (as it takes power to block out the light, that's how TFTs work). But since you are getting a signal, it probably means that some resistor is bridged or broken

ok i have checked all the resistors i possibly can. and the screen is still bright white. is the screen just dead

Kyo - not on the PSone screen, if there is no video signal the screen goes white and after a few seconds, goes black. frdnrckr - check your negative (common) is connected between your system and screen; as well as the composite signal. When you know all is fine, you can always remove the composite signal and connect RGB (if that is what you are using) - if you are using composite, it may be that you haven't connected C-sync.

Yes - that's because the backlight is turning on before the screen is, but when both is on, and it does not have a picture, it should be black

I doubt that it's a missing C-Sync if he's using composite, as that is in composite on most consoles, and if it is, you do not need to connect it anymore. It's really more of an issue with RGB. But seeing as how the screen is basically too bright - meaning the light isn't being "shielded" enough, i doubt it's the video signal.

Ground not being connected should also have a different effect than additional brightness

so i unwired the screen and then re wired it and the screen went back to black but the video didn't work. i then got the video to work but the screen turned white again so i unwired it and it is still white. idk what to do anymore mabye i should put it away for a while then come back to it

you mean amperage? It would probably just turn off, if that was the case. Well seeing as how this problem only occurs if there is a video source, you should indeed try what bacteria said (switching the video source)

if it is indeed amperage then how can i get more amperage i am using an 1500 milliamp rc car battery

more amperage would be archieved by using a stronger battery or putting two parallel.

Before you do this ('cause I doubt that's the problem), just check if this is really the problem with a power supply

Well, with my portable, the PSone screen gets really bright white when the batteries start to die...

Well, makes sense. It loses the ability to block out the light. LED modded I'm guessing? LEDs don't take much power

i dont see why it wouldnt be enough amperage though. a powersupply of 9 volts and 210 miliamps makes it act weird i think its the voltage. the batterys are a little bad they only supplt 8.3 volts now. i think that is the problem considering the screen requires 9 volts
