On a more serious note, bittorrent is a great protocol for distributing data redundantly. Since piracy requires moving a great amount of data, a protocol that allows you to do that will come in handy. But a good example of where BT is not used for piracy is World of Warcraft's patches, which are distributed over a large network and need to reach out fast. BT is perfect for that job.
