can I get 720p on 1440x900

Post by collinE »

I feel really bad for asking this because it seems pretty noobish to me.

Does the 360 VGA hook straight into a 1440x900 monitor and work no problem? I remember Ben saying something about his monitor working with 720p so would mine be a problem?

720p == 1280×720.
Most any monitor that can handle 1440x900 will be able to display that.

Don't take my word for it though, I've never actually bothered with anything HD.

well the problem might be ugly TFT-upscaling. Using a monitor that has the right native resolution should be prettier, but yes, it should work

the scaling was my concern... so it would have to be native 720p.

Well, it depends. If you'll use it to watch movies, you might not even notice it. I don't know about xbox games, though... Give it a shot?

well... it was for a 360 lappy way in the future and just wanted to know what kind of cheap monitor to keep an eye out for. I don't have the cable for trying it out right now. sorry.

When you use a VGA cable on the 360 you can go into the settings and change your resolution. It will automatically scale to the appropriate size. I do this and I think it looks fine.
