Frontlit GBA done! (56k warning)

I managed to beat Palmertech in this!

Looks like a normal GBA, right?

Wrong! By the way, it looks like crap on the camera - in real life it is quite crisp and clear.

And unlike Palmer's...

Mine runs GB/C games without blowing the frontlight.

Respect for gutting an SP to get the frontlight

Although Palmertech posted pics of his ages ago (that's how I got the idea for mine), but that doesn't matter, because yours is a much cleaner install heh.

Nice GBAs. The original is so superior to the SP. I hate the clicky d-pads on the SP so much

The Micro on the other hand rules all

(well, all that have good eyes anyway).

the micro does own every other gameboy
+1 gb micro
I was trying to do this mod a while ago but never really finished and just traded my gameboy away. great job on actually finishing!

Can't wait to see how you did it.

The GBA beats the micro because it can play GBC games.

I want to bondo the sides of a GBA to a SP, so you get comfort, backlight, and a protected screen when not in use.

doesn't work... I have broken 2 gbasps when they are folded the top gets hit and the screen cracks, but my gba was still going after like 5 years hard wear and tear.

^ the only useful tip I can give is, no matter what, do not touch the front light guide from the SP with your fingers! Only ever hold it from the edge even if it is difficult.

When I do my next one, I will get all the GBA setup to completion almost, then open the SP, and I will quickly transfer the frontlight from the SP to the GBA and close the GBA all within about 30 seconds. To help prevent dust/fingerprints and bits of fluff.

Oh, and I highly recommend putting a 60 ohm resistor on the positive wire to the frontlight, cause if you put in a Gameboy game or GBC game it will kill the light almost instantly.
