PSOne screen broken?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSOne screen broken?

Post by Kyo »

I got my PSOne screen today. The auction said it worked, and today it finally arrived together loosely with some crap filling the gaps in the box instead of newspaper. The small crap was hardly protecting it from rough shipping or anything. The screen itself was wrapped in an old bag of black tea, with tiny rests of black tea being all over the screen. After having cleaned it, I went to try it out, and connected it to my brothers playstation. the psone turns on fine, the picture is on my television, but the screen isn't giving me anything. It's not even lighting up.

What kind of tests can I do without ripping it apart? I'd hate to have to return it if I can fix the problem, but I really don't want to rip it apart, voiding the chance of getting my money back

Seeing as how nobody replied, I am sending it back as defective.

But nevermind, eh? I got my second screen today. It's brand new, actually! It even comes with it's original box, which seems to be a different one than the one we know and love. It's green. Apparently, this was originally a PSOne/Screen combo, which is why it has a different box. I'm not getting the original PSOne, but whatever.

It just arrived, finally. And what do I see... they used... the original box to send the thing to me. The whole thing is basically covered with duct tape and a huge sticker with my address on it.

You know, I used to believe in common sense.

What makes them think that when you are auctioning a PSOne screen in it's original box, completely ruining the box and using it for shipping is a good idea? Do they think that people want the box because they want to build something out of the cardboard?

As a modder, I'm glad my PSOne screen came, but as a collector I am angry at yet another retarded seller. For some reason, people like to ruin the conditions of the boxes the things they're selling came in before letting go of them. There was a time I would actually give the seller a list of things which he should not do to the box, I think it's time for me to do that again.

This box, ebay, common sense and mankind have failed me. Good night.

It technically is your responsibility as a buyer to stipulate that you want it double boxed to preserve the original box.

If not the majority of Ebay sellers will just slap a sticker on it and ship it.

Well that's fine with me if they don't advertise it as boxed. Obviously you want the original box in the condition it is shown in the listing

Surprisingly a lot of online retailers will send a brand new item in just the original box if it is sturdy enough.

Once again it is the buyers responsibility to let sellers know they will ONLY accept the item if it stays in the condition it is listed as.
