portable psx original questions

hi
basically the run down is i've started a playstaion (scph 9002) portable. i've bought everything (batteries, screen, controller) except the tact switches. A couple of questions I have include

since i'm using the original psx i require two batteries, a 3.5v and a 8 volt. I could use just one battery pack but i'm too lazy. how could i wire a switch so i turn on both batteries simultaneously with the one switch (not too sepearte ones.

the "batteries" i'm using comprise of 7, 1.2v AA 2800 mah (for the 8.4v) and 4 AAA 1.5v batteries (for the 3.5v power supply (using resistors)). they are both nimh. how would i go about charging the battery packs without pulling each AA or AAA battery out one by one. btw i have a usb nimh charger.

final question so far, how would i go about adding volume control to my amplifier. the amplifier i have i pulled out of a pair of nokia speakers. is the volume control just a simple switch with a resistor connecting the the power input or do i have to do something tricky.

Use one set of batteries and a step-down regulator (eg TI card) to get the 3.5v you mention.

Use a PSone board instead of PS1 board if you can, only needs one voltage and smaller too.

technically, that is not correct, bacteria. The PSOne needs (just like the screen) 7.5 and 5V

But he's not talking about the PSone. The original poster wants info on one of the old model Playstation motherboards.

yeah, but bacteria said the PSOne had only one voltage, and I was just pointing out that that's not right.

What exactly do you mean ? I am powering my Psone right now with one 7.4v Lithium Poly.

my point is that it gets stepped down to 5V as well

So ? It gets stepped down to 4.6v , 3.5v, 1.2v, 2,6v and several hundreds of other voltages all over the board.

The fact of the matter is that it's runs off a single 7.4v-7.5v source.

Yes there are other ways that will work but why complicate it.

i'm using the psone original cause i have three of them and it would be more challenging. the only problems i've got is that i need an easier way to charge both battery packs, volume control, and a single power switch

edit, no longer need volume control as their was an amp on the screen

say i wasn't going to be stubborn and did decide to use only 1 battery, how would I make a 3.5v power supply? Do i use a potentiometer or the Ti card thingy you mentioned? is there a tutorial anywhere for this?
(i've already tried google)

also woud this charger work for the battery pack (comprising of 7 aa batteries)

no potentiometer. You'll needd a step down regulator, a resistor would be depending on the amperage drawn
