script error handler not defined

Post by bumblejacket »

I'm trying to install an old game for my son, Fisher Price Great Adventures: Pirate Ship. However, when I start the program I get the following error message

Script Error Handler Not Defined #file10

I've looked online for this error message, but I can't find anything.

I've tried adjusting my graphics settings (which seemed to be the thing to do on older operating systems) but I got the same error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My son loves the game.

Looking it up on Amazon.com, it looks like it came out in the mid-90s. (The box says it was designed for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Mac System 7.) Chances are it doesn't like Windows NT, which 2000, XP, and Vista are all based on.

Try running the installer in Windows 98 compatibility mode. If that doesn't work, you might have to either run it on an old computer, or run a full copy of 98 under Virtual PC.

It's running under every compatibility mode I know of. If it's not running in compatibility mode it says some .dll error.

I tried to see if there was an NT patch, but it doesn't look like they made one. Seems like you're going to have to set up a virtual PC to run Windows 98 or 95 on. %99.999 chance that will work.

Also, don't you hate it when you're looking for answers on Google and this happens?

I cannot tell you how often that happens to me. Also, I just installed it on my laptop, which has no service packs, and it works, but on this one with SP3, it doesn't.

LOL that thing with google happens all the time to me. Also, if you want the game to play, maybe it would be easier to use it in an actual windows 95 computer (that is if you have one lying around, of course.)

What if you installed that DOS-BOX application? I've successfully used that to run some Win 95 era games on my XP machine.

HUZZAH! It worked. I read up on dosbox, installed windows 3.1, and IT RUNS! But there is no sound. I installed sound drivers as instructed here ---------->http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=9405
and when I start windows 3.1 it plays a sound like the first few milliseconds of a startup sound and continues to loop those few milliseconds of sound for forever until theres a new sound played, and then when I start the game there is no sound except the looping sound from before.

Install DOS and Windows 3.1 (or just install 95) on Virtual PC 2007. It shouldn't give you that problem.

well, I installed dos 6.11 in virtual pc, then installed windows 3.1, and no sound. I tried "SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6" but nothing changed. What do I do now?
