NES Questions.

The cartridge slot just slides right off of the board. The expansions port, you can either desolder and remove, or use a cutting tool and carefully cut it off. Carefully, as you don't want to cut into a capacitor or whatnot.

Wow, thanks! I had NO CLUE that the cartridge slot simply slid off...now I just need to know if both sides of the board are important. I am guessing they are. So if I order a new slot then I can just solder the wires together? Or does electrical tape work best?

And I still can not find any information of removing the RF Box...

I was simply going to dremel it off, but then decided that it might not be the best idea I've ever had, so I did not.

Can I dremel it off or MUST I desolder? Because we aren't having the best of luck with desoldering and if we could dremel it off that would just be amazing.

You can dremel it off, but make sure you know where the traces for it go to; if you forget, hit me up via PM, I can send you back on the proper path.

WE FINALLY GOT IT DESOLDERED! Yeah, it took forever.
Anyways, now we would like to add power and make sure it still works.
So how can we plug it in? Obviously we'll need a resistor of sorts; 120 volts would be too much. We have no clue what to do though and are stumped. A quick reply would be nice, and there is a Radio Shack in town so we should be able to get whatever we need.

For 5V the best way to do it is to buy a wall adaptor (must be 5V REGULATED) and use that. The video and audio are pretty self-explanitory. The transistor amplifies the video signal.

Sorry, everything you said just went way over my head.

Where can I get a 5V Wall Adaptor, and what do they look like? I have never heard of such a thing. Also, I don't want to have any stupid power bricks and whatnot for this, so if this way doesn't allow me to solder it to the board and just plug it in, sorry, but I'm not interested.

And I don't know what an transistor is. Do I need to get a certain type of one or what?

Alright, so, funny enough my friend and I were cleaning and re-found this project. We'd still where we were when this thread stopped, so, in short, we are in need of a way to power this beast. How can we go about doing this?

Batteries? What are you looking to accomplish, battery life wise?

It's not a portable. It's meant to be like a Nintendo. Just need to know how to switch the power from 120v to 5v or whatever it needs.

People do, but after about December 15-18, forget it. People will usually assume after that point that they won't get it in time. Now is actually the prime time to be selling for the holidays.

That was not at all true when I sold my consoles.

I can sell you an NES power cord. You still have the voltage regulator, I hope? If not, I can sell you that, as well. I guess you could say screw the regulator, and use a power cord that steps it down to 5V DC.
