Hey guys, I'm kind of new, but don't take me for an idiot, I'm just new to electronics at this level. I'm accustomed to being tech savvy with a pc, but this seems a lot different.
What I'd like is someone to sort of explain to me is how I would go about splitting a ps1 controller's buttons to separate them, obviously the the board is way too small so I'm guessing you wire it after cutting them off? I'll need to purchase a psone controller as the one I'm looking at is the ps2 one, it has that plastic sheet above the board which registers all the button presses, I somehow doubt the ps1's controller had this awful stuff.
Thanks in advance.

The easy way of doing it, IMHO, is to polish off the black carbon off the button contacts (Hence why they are commonly called "Carbon Contacts") and solder the tacts directly to the copper tabs that you uncover. Polish with care, though, as you could go right through the copper if you aren't careful. Or worse yet, rip right through an adjacent micro-trace, which are near impossible to repair unless you have a lot of experience in the matter.
I don't know about you....I don't.
Good luck. And most of all, look through these fine forums, and check all the stickies. They will help you greatly.
