Old stickies/threads dead and gone?

I just noticed my Nintendo 64 Advance project I did mid '07 and was a sticky in the N64 forum, which received around 70,000 hits, is gone. No longer there and also "error 404" when I did a direct link to the topic.

What's going on with old threads and stickies??

Lots of old links in threads (stickies for instance) have problems nowadays.
The big problem is that they were from the old forum, which had a different address.
It used to be benheck.com/phpBB/.
Now, obviously, it's forums.benheck.com.

This creates a bit of a problem when browsing through outdated threads.
The N64 stickies are a perfect example.

Someone should make a greasemonkey script that redirects all those bad URLs to fixed ones, should be a pretty easy job... But not for me.

You must be the fastest coder alive! Not only did you read my post AS I TYPED it, you managed to write the script, too!

Nice work. Unfortunately, Bacteria is an old person. This means that he uses AOL or Internet Explorer, so none of this helps him, anyways.

I made that months ago, and it didn't occur to me until Bacteria's post that other people might want it.

Wasn't there talk back when the domain was changed about making a script that would edit posts and change the URLs to the new ones (without everyone having to use greasemonkey)?

my ISP is AOL (used them for 7 years), but I don't use IE, I use Firefox (although using IE at this moment as not on my home PC). So what is this Greasemonkey script about and what does it do??

If someone could fix the old links (and stickies) that would be great!

AOL were a large ISP a few years back and the only real unlimited use ISP I was aware of. May change next year, not sure yet. AOL ran (I believe) via UK too at the time; before the take-over.

I don't like installing scripts, they can be unsafe. Only script I installed was from my web site server, to make life easier; even then I was in two minds about installing the script.

they could just set up a redirect via htaccess

or mod_rewrite...

AOL is available and being evil to it's customers (especially those who don't want to be customers anymore) all around the world, not just america.

I like using scripts. I couldn't write one of my own, but I know enough about them to see if what I'm using is sending information from my computer elsewhere. I check them all.
