Fahrenheit 451 Project DONE!! [SPOILER ALERT]
Hey, I could use some help:
I'm doing a video for Fahrenheit 451 for english, with a comedic twist. For when Captain Beatty is burned by Montag, I would like to have a film clip from TF2, with a Pyro burning a scout. I may possibly do this in Garry's mod, but I still need to be able to record it and save it as an unprotected mp4 file to work with iMovie. Anyone know how to do this without a capture card? Thanks for any tips or software (I would love it if it's free).

Source Recorder. It's built into the engine.
Basically you record the demo (which I believe just records camera movements, actions, prop positions, etc), and then you can render to a video file. (It plays back slowly so the final video is smooth.) You could even do this right in TF2. You can render the video to any encoder installed on the computer. (You'll probably want a third party MPEG-4 codec; I don't know how good Microsoft's is, or if iMovie will even support it. It supports any format Quicktime Player can open, right?)

Well I would consider myself an expert on iMovie if you need any help
Another way to capture on a Mac is Snapz Pro X, but you'd need quite a bit of processor power to run TF2 and do full screen capture.

And I'm not doing this on my MacBook! I don't have one of the more recent, powerful ones. Mine is almost a year old now. I'm having a friend record it for me and send me the file.

Eew, Fraps. Why the hell would you use that when you have a far superior recording system built into the game?
You shouldn't have to have your friend do it for you. As I said, Source Recorder renders the video frame by frame, like 3D animation software. (Do you think Pixar rendered Rattatoulie in real time?)

Did you read the "MacBook" part? Garry's Mod doesnt even boot on this thing w/o blu screening me! Same with TF2. I would do it myself if I could. Believe me. I'll post the finished product sometime next week, or if I need help. Thanks guys!bicostp wrote:Eew, Fraps.
