For sale: Lifebook B2630, Windows XP SP3

Post by palmertech »

Hello all!

I am looking to sell my lifebook. It has served me well, but I simply do not need it anymore. It works great!

It has :

900mhz PIII Mobile (With speedstep, allows for adjustable speed to save battery life)(Keep in mind that PIII Ms are generally faster than P4s of the same clock speed)

256mb ram (Seems low, I know, but this thing has its resources set up really well. Someone on ebay is selling 1gb ram sticks for the B series right now, too)

10.4" Touchscreen (1024x768, looks really sharp, no low res issues like a lot of more recent netbooks)

Extended life 6 cell battery, which holds a charge great! I get about 3 hours most of the time doing normal stuff.

AC adapter, nothing special here. ;)

30gb hard drive

Windows XP SP3, Nlite'd for uber-speed. :)

Linksys Wireless card, B/G, up to 54mbps. With all the drivers installed. :)

A bunch of software that most people here can get on their own anyways (Emulators, Google Chrome, open office, etc.

All in all, a nice piece. Mainly selling it because the screen, while highly visible and very sharp, is not uber-bright. Because I live in a house lit by bright sunlight, this is sometimes a problem. Also, youtube is fine, but high bitrate flash (Like on movie streaming sites ) Is touch and go. Downloaded stuff runs fine, and I have google chrome set up with a button to download any flash movie you are watching.

Any buyers/interested parties? I will answer all questions you may have.

My mom wants a cheap laptop that she can learn on but she probably won't go threw with it so when she gives up she is going to give is to me. So I want something I can run Starcraft 2 on or other pc games and something I can customize and download 360 games on.

Ummm... This things main cool feature is how small it is (11" Diagonal). It is a great laptop for the size/price, but Starcraft 2 is not even out yet, and it looks like it is going to need a newer gaming PC. So I would strike that idea. If you want to play Starcraft 2, I would be looking for a $500-600 desktop.

How would you customize 360 games? Besides, the lifebook lacks a DVD burner, so that would be an issue.

I meant customize the computer like add new parts. I'll keep looking but I really appreciate the honesty.

AFAIK the B series does not support amounts of ram greater than 256mb at all. i would LOVE to be proven wrong tho!

The b26xx don't, but I believe the b3xxx do (maybe more). 256MB is plenty for everyday tasks, even doing multiple everyday tasks is fine.

Sorry for lack of pics, will get up soon. It looks exactly like the one in Tritons thread, though.

May be open to trades. Cowsgoquack, I bet if you sold what you offered as a trade me earlier on ebay, you would easily have enough. :D
