See, Bacteria! MDF is the way to go! Pick up a cheap jig-saw already, and get to work!
The shapes of my cases are not achievable with just using a jigsaw on MDF as the sides are not just curved but double curved and sloped at different angles. It would take mountains of time with a file to achieve the desired effect, and that is assuming the MDF behaved itself.

Its not just mdf, they are ply wood too in layers so you can get
the curves. But, each to their own.
The screen is a necvox fd5869. No audio though.
Also, has anybody ever used a digital potentiometer? Recommendations??

Vacuum forming shows any and all imperfections of a mold, if the surface isn't perfectly smooth the result looks bad. Using plywood would look bad; you could fill in the gaps but whatever you use needs to resist the heat of a piece of plastic out of an oven at over 200c for a couple of minutes while it cools.
Anyway, as mentioned before, it doesn't matter at all what you make a mold out of, the only relevant thing is what it produces and if you can re-use it many times over.
techknott wrote:@bacteria, you couldn't be more wrong. Sure my moulds have slight imperfections here and there, but they are as smooth as a baby's backside.
*Cough*
How exactly do you know how that feels?
Just a joke
