No rest for the wicked. Started this last night after my bits arrived.

The picture really does no justice, the plastic is actually purple and will all glow up when done(hopefully).

Yes its a vac formed case with plexiglass on top.

Doesn't take long at all using mdf moulds. No, its not a ps2 screen or 7", its actually a 5" widescreen monitor.

See, Bacteria! MDF is the way to go! Pick up a cheap jig-saw already, and get to work!

@Techknott, that's looking great already! What screen are you using and how is the quality and power requirements, etc. I can't wait to see this thing finished and in action!

Screen quality is amazing and it only uses 500mA(@ 9v) even with the original backlight. It can run on anything from 8v-12v too.

Power wise, im thinking I might leave out the batteries on this one and use an external battery pack to keep the size and weight down???

Anyway, here's the latest.

Man, you're just moving right along on this.

I kind of like the idea of external battery packs. But even with my GameGear and GBA, I still use wall power. The GG's heavy enough without the batteries in it, and I have crappy wrists.

May not be a bad idea. You'd satisfy the portablizing crowd with optional battery and the mainstream "I want it small and thin" crowd with the um... small and thin... aspect. If it works with your plan, you should make the battery pack able to hook onto the portable somehow so that you don't need to carry it in a separate hand.
