R Button Probelm - PSP

R Button Probelm - PSP

So I took my PSP completely apart and put it in a new case that I ordered from CoolMods. As far as I can tell I did not break anything, but whenever I use it now for some reason it acts as though the R button is pressed down the WHOLE time. Does anybody know how to fix this or why it might be?

Is the R button completely free? (is it pressed down at all, sometimes that'll happen if it's not snug in the case 100%)

No, I have removed it from the case completely, but it still acts as though it is being pressed.

The R and L buttons have tiny little separate boards that fit in their respective spaces, and have tiny little ribbon connectors that fit into the main board, check the R's ribbon, see if it's loose at all.

Is it connected with the O, X, /\, and [] buttons, and it is properly secured.

Hmm.. This reminds me of when I took apart my first Psp, it kept cycling the down button until I opened it up and put the disk drive back in, it confused me completely since I have no idea what happened to it. Check the ribbons for everything inside the Psp.

As far as I can tell, all of the ribbons are properly attached.

Can you try tapping the button rapidly and see if it unstucks?

Its broken, throw it away - no way to fix it ever. Hey heres a better idea, give it to me instead of throwing it away. :lol:

Check to see if there is anything on the board where the button contacts are and the other end where the cable plugs into the mobo. I don't think anyone knows what to tell you other than check for shorts everywhere (tiny piece of metal, solder, wetness, crooked ribbon cable, etc touching things together).

Seriously? Uh...I really don't believe you. And no, nothing is out of place. Well...there is one SMALL thing that I don't think should change anything. When I took the screen out there was a small piece of rubber attached (on the back) that was probably stopping it from touching something else. I don't know where it went but I still have it.

Theres your problem!

I took the foam backing off a ds screen once... Not a good idea, shorts everything out.

Cover the whole back of the screen in tape, that *should* fix it.

This *should* not be the problem, as I covered *most* of the back of screen, and then to test it even more I lifted out the screen and turned it on. Still no luck! :(

Than I would suggest that you go to ebay and buy a replacement ribbon cable. If THAT doesn't work, than you may panic... :lol:

I had the same problem with my PSP. You just need to take it apart, take the R button off and the pad under it. Make sure its clean and whatnot and put it back on. It should work fine.

I've been in the PSP scene forever. I've had every problem there is to have.
