Picture Help! (I need these resized!)

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey guys. Im doing a neat little project for photography class. Its all about technology and how its represented in art. So, I need the following pictures inlarged to 24" x 36" but they also need to have the highest resolution possible. (Dont overdo it on the resolution, I need to send these through hotmail. So, you guys will need to vectorize these to keep the good resolution.)

These are the 3 pictures.

http://www.collegecandy.com/wp-content/ ... ng-wii.jpg

http://wiiconsumer.files.wordpress.com/ ... seball.jpg

Please remember that these needs to be: High Quality images that are sized at 24" x 36".

Thanks.

EDIT: Can you guys recommend any other technology that I should get a photo of?

You know that because you're scaling them up from a miniscule size, they're going to look blurry and horrible, right?* The extra information isn't going to fall from the sky. The larger ones might be passable at 10 feet or so away, but scaling a 1024x1024 @ 72 DPI image up to 2' by 3' at 600 DPI will look bad.

You're better off doing it yourself. There's no way to get a print-ready image that size down to an email-able size without severe compression.

* And in the case of that Wii Baseball one, even blocker and more horrible. ZING : P

Well, if someone can vectorize them and enlarge them they wont get blurry when enlarging them. Dont overdo it with the resolution. Like it needs to be high resolution, thats all.

Ive had someone else on these boards, enlarge a beatboxing picture for me using vectorization. It was HUGE, and it was good quality. All I need for these, is that they are 24" x 36" and good quality.

EDIT: I scrapped the idea with two pictures in one. I have edited the links. The pictures I need enlarged are listed.

Wasn't that a black and white drawing, though? Images with few colors vectorize fairly well, photos don't because they're too complicated. Vectorized photographs look even worse than scaled-up photographs.

I'm not saying that scaling them up won't work, but it won't be the expo-ready, professional result you seem to be after. (I assume this is for your presentation for that TV show?)

Nope. If it was, I would be better prepared. xD

How would a vectorized image look worse? I dont need these to look professional. I just need these at that image, and I need them to be as good as quality as they can get.

rasterbate might work, its some program that you can use to take your favorite photo and turn it into a poster by enlarging the picture and it prints out over several pieces of paper.

After its done rasterizing the pictures they open up in pdf so I guess you'll have to copy/paste or print screen into photoshop and splice them all together.

I haven't really messed with it before but it might work out into what you are looking for with a little bit of work

Because you'll be scaling up a grid of colored squares at best and a mess of random shapes at worst.

Try this tool and see what it will look like:

http://vectormagic.com

You have to buy the final vector files, and they watermark the .pngs.

Here's the couple playing Wii image, run through their system in Photo mode at the highest possible setting.

That also makes it a bunch of pop-art circles. (It's got the most awesome program name ever, though.)

If this is for a school project or something, print them out at 16x24 or so (4 sheets). Even the size you want will be fine. (I thought this was for something really huge.)

Edit: Okay guys. I dont need them vectorized or anything. I just need those 3 photos, to be the size that I mentioned.

This is for a class project, but I need them to be good quality. (Like, not a lot of pixelization and such. They need to be good enough quality that they dont look bad. So just try to get them to that size at the best quality that you can get.

Note: They are due tomorrow.

There is no way to get them that big without losing quality (aside from vectoring or other time consuming ways).

Vectorizing is exactly what bicostp displayed above. Is that good or not? And do you not have MSPaint? Can you not re-scale the image by yourself?

Open it in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (the default image viewer in XP) and zoom in. That's what it's going to look like.

Doesn't Irfanview have a poster print mode?

I may be able to try something. Not sure how it will turn out. I have to find the program on my computer. I'll post the results if I find the program.
