NES Problem

Hey guys couldn't find any support forums for the NES (apparently its kinda old

) and I was hoping you guys could help me with a problem I am having. I just got an NES as a gift and was really excited to revisit some of my childhood memories. But the problem I am having is that after anywhere from roughly 1-7 min of playing it will reset and begin blinking on the opening screen (the screen you get when it turns on like credits or such) as well the power light will be blinking. Can anyone help me with this as I really want to play some Zelda and Ninja Turtles lol thanks!

The blinking means that the NES isn't making contact with the cart. You can try cleaning the carts, but you might need to fix or replace the 72-pin connector.

If it wasnt making connection would it play for like 5 min then just reset (like after a bit it just comes undo or something lol sorry I am a noob)? Or would it more likely not start at all? Thanks for the response just trying to get to the root of the problem.

I've had it go both ways. I've got one that currently won't start at all, it just blinks. The other (which I replaced the connector in) would do it at random times like that.

If you want to try fixing the cart connector for free, get a safety pin or a sewing needle and pull the old connector out. Use the pin/needle to carefully pull each spring connector out a bit. It doesn't take very much.

also, you might want to rub the contacts with rubbing alcohol to get rid of 20 years of dust and grime.
