I bought a 17 inch Dell roughly 3 years ago. And for a personal project I stripped off the casing. BUT. now I want to rebuild a case for it, and remove the power supply to make it external.Once I started unscrewing everything I got down to the actual guts and I was lost.
My question actually is... When I looked at the actual power supply there were 4 connectors that connected directly to the LCD's backlight. then there was another cable which I'm most interested in.
It has roughly 8 colors. But the colors are all different wire colors typically found in an ATX power supply. (Green,Black, Red,Orange, Yellow, etc)
When manufacturers typically make power supplies do they use the same colors for the same voltages? Black = Ground, Red = +5V... etc?
Another issue is I cannot power on the display without the back light being turned on. I can power on the back light without the display working. I just hope to be able to use a standard pc power supply.
Anyone have advice?
The actual monitor name is lm170e01 and I have very little idea what the datasheet means

Its a 715g1492 is what it says on the board.
Monitor needs new power supply.
