Wii handheld without the disc drive? (For portable VC games)

Post by nuclear muffin »

Has anybody tried making a Wii handheld with no disc drive and a classic controller attached? I'd love to see how small a portable could be made without the bulky DVD drive and USB ports!

No sensor bar would be needed either since you can navigate the Wii menu with a classic controller!

If you just want a wii portable for the vc, you would be better off getting a psp with emulators.

Too impractical. And a waste of a wii. :P

By "classic controller" do you mean a GameCube controller? The Wii Classic Controller plugs into a Wii Remote, not into the console itself.. From looking at Ben's Wii portable portable, the size can't be reduced much more than he did, unless you custom fab a heatsink (even with his bent heatsink, the assembly with heatsink is just barely shorter than with the Wii drive mounted as well).

I doubt anyone will build a DVD drive lacking Wii until you can load games off a harddisk.

Waste of time. You'd be throwing away a perfectly good wii.
Cheers,
