psp analog stick

Post by exploding.monkey »

my question is that i see when you use the PSP (the actual Sony PlayStation Portable, not one from this forum) analog stick, it seems to shift from side to side staying flat, rather then leaning over.

how does this work?

ive really never tinkered with the PSP analog stick, but im guessing that it uses some sort of slider that is connected to a spring in the center of the bottom joystick pad which pulls the analog stick back to the middle....

but like i said, im only guesing, ive never pulled apart a PSP analog stick before, the most ive done to a joystick is replace the top bit whihc still doesnt show anything else...

sorry for not being able to help....

Simple answer - yes, you can swap them; the PSP joystick has 4 contacts: ground, H, V and VCC data, but the other question is would you want to? From what I hear, people hate the PSP joysticks with a passion.

I have a idea why he would want to use one. The size of the PSP stick compared to the PSOne stick.

i acctually love the PSP analog sticks, and i guess the psone analog sticks are okay, but they're really big and bulky.

You can buy them off ebay for about $5 a piece, much cheaper than broken PSPs.

I know almost nothing about psp, but does the psp analog pad also act like a button like the ps1's? You need this for games like Ape Escape.

It has no button, but it wouldn't be hard just to set a tact switch underneath of it.

um, to answer your question exploding.monkey, not really, for the PSP analog sticks, all you need to do is pull off the knob... the PS1 analog sticks? not so easy....

well, thats if im thinking of the same thing you are...

No, but there are ways around this issue. Some of us forum members came up with a few ideas to get around that fact a while back. I won't go into details though.
