SuperJoy III - PROBLEM SOLVED CLOSED

Post by Neildo_64 »

I have a superjoy III that won't work. When I turn it on, the screen flickers for a second and is just black. The AV display shown in the corner of my TV gets a little wavy while it is on also. I have no audio or anything but the split second flicker so I know its not a video problem. I have it apart and I can't see any bad solder joints or anywhere that looks like a problem.

Is there something common that goes wrong with these causing this?

Picture to show what SJ I have.

Nevermind. Problem Solved. Consider topic closed. For anyone reading, the problem was my batteries. I guess since the batteries were rechargeable (1.2v), the voltage dropped past the limit for the 7805 to work. With new alkalines (1.5V) it works fine.

I would remove voltage regulator from the board (if you don`t use ac adapter) so you can use both types of batteries, and when the voltage drops below 5.5 volts the unit will still work....
