Hey guys, I recently got two Atari 2600s, a Jr, and a 6-Switch(If it matters, its the non-sunnyvale edition). They both came with power adapters, one of them had duct tape on the wire, which must have been acid based because it ate straight through to the metal... so that one is busted. The other power adapter seemed to do squat as well. So, knowing that a 2600 takes the same 7805 regulator to step the voltage down as an NES, I took an extra nes wire and spliced on the Mini-Jack from the busted adapter. I plugged it into both systems and still nothing. Then I checked Ben's book for the polarity and figured out the wires were swapped, and it works with the Atari 2600 Jr. now. My point in telling this useless story is that when the reversed polarity adapter was plugged into the 6-switch and i switched it on, I heard a popping sound. What did I likely blow, and do you think I will be able to replace it? I have a multimeter, so I can test what it may be.
