FREE plastic cases(samples anyway)

i came across a electronic enclosure website that offers 2 free samples along with free shipping. the cases dont seem to be as large as the popular ZN-40 from polycase, but they are free and would be good for some smaller projects. anyway Here, at Pactec is the link to the free samples page, sadly you can only sample their NEW products(about 30 to choose from) instead of their entire catalog. Just made my order today and have received a order confirmation and tracking # through fed-ex, so it does work

I have sampled 4 or 5 boxes from there. I haven't found anything there that would make a nice portable though. However, I haven't been there in a while. They ship fast and their enclosures are fairly nice quality.

Have a go at vacuum forming, make something the right size you need. Vacuum forming is easy to do, I was quite surprised!

the cases seem kinda small for portables

I have yet to see a vacuum-formed case that sucked balls. I made my own table in a day for really cheap (I made a nice writeup nobody's ever used hiding here somewhere), and it's still kicking. It's really easy to do. The hardest part of vacuum forming is perfecting a positive mold to vacuum-form over. It took me a few times, and I tried a variety of materials. (Do not try plaster, it chips too easily and makes one hell of a mess. Clay cracks, plasticine doesn't hold its shape well enough. I settled on pine with bits of clay as a sort of filler)

i have access to a professional vac form table, its just making the mold looks liek a chore

Today I just recieved Model XPM-9VB, and Model PP. I actually find the samples good for the a few case mods I plan on doing in the future.
