Hey guys. I need help adding a WEP onto my wireless on my homenetwork.
I type in 192.168.1.1
And it brings me to the linksys router page. I go to WEP, Select Manditory, but then it wants me to put in a passphrase and then generate 4 passkeys. What the hell is this?! xD
I just want to put my password as a word that I know, or a code that I know.
Someone helps please.

Don't use WEP. It sucks. You might as well leave your wireless wide open, since WEP can be cracked in under 5 minutes using freely available software.

Hmm, well I doubt anyone near my house knows how to crack WEP or knows where to get the program.
How do I WPA protect it? I want to use a passphrase rather than a random code. (Like EG: I want my password to be "chicken" instead of "92382hshdh")
Also, I've heard (In law class) that if someone connects to your router, and you dont want them connected, your allowed to do anything in your power to disconnect them. (Thus meaning: Connect to their PC, ping them, send a worm, etc)

Use WPA2 Enterprise.

Anyway, just select WPA Personal and type whatever you want and click Save. It lets me do this on dd-wrt anyway...Did you consider 3rd party firmwares?
I could still crack WPA in a few minutes using Backtrack 3...but I'm sure your neighbors aren't that smart anyway.
Oh and I caught my neighbor on my WiFi today, unfortunately he disconnected before I could do anything (I pinged and all I got was a timeout) Nuts...
