Building PC in NES, just have a question about Frontends?

Ok, so I'm building a PC that's going inside of an NES Console, and I've seen where you can get a frontend menu to install on the PC, so that it loads right into the games selection, but I don't know what a good one is? I've heard of one, but when I tried it, it didn't really work that well. I don't know if you guys know anything about frontends, but I didn't know where else people would talk about it! Thanks!

It can take tons of emulators and sort your game images practically any way you want. Combine this with the PC port of XBMC and you've got an instant media center.

Meedio Ultimate is okay too; especially with a plugin that lets you choose what player to use with specific formats. (Flash videos look amazing on large TVs when you run them with Media Player Classic; pure vectors!) XBMC is overall a more slick frontend. (Note: both of these are basically only for videos and music; they have limited game sorting functions.)

Ok, that's the one I tried before Gameex. The Frontend was working in Windows, I just didn't know how to configure the computer to boot right into it, instead of going to Windows. Also, it's using the original ports on the NES, it was just rewired with those RetroPorts, and someone could navigate through Gameex with the NES controller?

Put a shortcut to GameEx in the Startup folder in your Start menu. It will still load Windows first (it has to), but it will start right away.

Alternately, you could make a registry change. This is probably more like what you're after; it should skip Windows Explorer completely and go right to GameEx. However, you'll probably want to make a way to load explorer from GameEx, if you ever want to move files around.

Also, make a separate account so you can get into it via Remote Desktop to make system changes. (You can then use TweakUI to make your main account log in automatically again.)

I don't see why you couldn't navigate with the NES controller; after all it's just another generic USB gamepad when you plug it into the adapter. I tried GameEx with a DualShock through a Radio Shack PSX to USB adapter and it worked fine.

Well I guess he had the full version of it or something, and I just had the basic one. Do you think that would be the problem?

Ok, I've gotten the Controller working with GameEx now, I dunno, it was a different version then the last time I tried it, and it worked. But, when you go through the setup for gameex, you can download the emulators you want to use with GameEx, so I clicked on NEStopia. But, when i go into GameEx, it doesn't show the emulators, and I don't know what to do? I tried the Advanced Configuration, and it said it needed an ini file from the emulator, but there is no ini?
