Can anyone help me? I suck... badly...

Post by Aguiluz »

By now I have put down my PSP at the table and typing away.

It seems that every music game I try, may be it Guitar Hero, O2Jam, and (a few minutes ago) DJ Max Portable 2 Demo, I suck. Ok, I admit. I suck at music games. You know, the ones that you have to hit a button in time with the notes that fly down at blinding speed.

It seems the problem is that I am confused on what button to hit and on what time. No matter how long I play and practice at n00b speeds and difficulty, I never manage to get past through 30 seconds of the song, no matter what song it is. In fact, getting past through 20 seconds is very lucky for me! :(

Any help or tips in getting past music games? :?

P.S: No cheats. Please.

press the button before it actually gets down to the bar when you strum it. Most people that arn't good try and press the button and strum at the exact time when it hits the bar.

I'm not on Guitar Hero, I'm now on my PSP's DJ Max Portable 2 Demo.

In my extremely limited experience, I have found that the bass on Rock Band is the easiest for me. In many songs, the bass part generally repeats for most of the song, which makes it easy to play once you have the beat down.
Also, try playing songs that you know. Then you can anticipate what is coming up a bit better.

I find music games hard to play because I try to play it as if I was actually playing guitar or drums. I hear the real drums and play along with those, for example, instead of hitting the colourful buttons. It turns out something along the lines of EPIC FAIL.

(For GH/RB) I recommend starting out on medium or hard, because it's more of a challenge and you won't lose focus. Go for the easy songs first though (I wouldn't recommend trying to play Cliffs of Dover on Hard if you can't play Slow Ride).

I am so bad at those kind of games, I do the same thing by getting the buttons mixed up

though I am decent at step mania/ddr types of games. Arrows I can do colors I can not.

do you have any internal rythym? or do you play an actual instrument? They are pretty easy once you get the beat down and the song starts repeating itself. Just get in the "zone" like not exactly looking at the screen but playing every note perfectly :D thats what I do

Finally! A music game that I don't suck in.

I borrowed DJ Max Portable 1 (not 2) for my PSP and I rock at it. (Though maybe not perfect, but hey, I completed a song!)

I'll start from here.
