How to on the Earlier Snes?

I am trying to make my first portable system. So i decided to make an SNESp , however i only own the Earlier Bulky model. I bought bens book but he has instructions on what to do with the Later model Mini snes. Ive alrdy made prgress and removed the mother board from the case. But from there on out, I am, How you say,.... Clueless. Anyone know, where to find a how to on the eariler model, or have one? Or, is someone willing to take me under there wing and teach me all there is 2 know

Edit: Hope u dont laugh at me for being clueless. Im just getting into portabalizing and im also 13, so yea.

Er, buy some 7.2v batteries and a PSone screen and then we'll talk!

Actually, yeah. You wont get far w/o getting those parts. Usually at that point, follow the wiring diagrams provided within the sticky and design your own original case and your done.

Ok sounds good, I can order the PS1 screen off of ebay, shouldnt be 2 costly, Then i can probably find those batteries at radio shack and stuff. Message you when Things recieved? Oh and Thnx.

you do have a soldering iron right? you won't get too far without one.

And lots of wires of all different lengths. but other than that what SS said

Yea, My dads Got like a whole lot of tools and stuff. INcluding of course, yea a soldeing iron. There isnt any tool my dad doesnt have. And i also have Wires.

rechargeable, li-ion are expensive, for my first portable i just used 6 AA batteries and it did fine for about 3-3.5 hrs, depends on your budget. and as for a screen the Zenith screens have the same layout on the board itself(they bought the patent from Sony or somethin like that) and they are usually a lot cheaper. Some argue that the picture isnt as good, but for SNES graphics i couldnt tell a difference. i got my 5" Zenith screen(made for Xbox) for $20 shipped ebay, wheras the sony PSone was about $40. the screens made by Zenith are all the same for Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox and can be followed to LED mod just as in Ben's book

Wow bacteria, Ur thread is ever so awsomley helpful, as i read along i was wondering if ud work with me on this. if possible. And if not im understanding and will take into consideration why u cant, and though i feel a lil embarrassed asking for like, what seems to me what would be, "extensive help" Everyones gotta start somewhere, and somehow right? And if i can say with full appreciation, what better way than to learn from someone, as skilled as bacteria. Ill follow ur thread closey, and ask questions when i fell needed. Thanks ever so much bacteria, whether or not u work with me personally or help me through ur thread.

Oh, and ShockSlayer, My RadioShack has finally restocked on There batteries. and Im also coming in touch wih a ps1 screen soon. Tomarrow, i am going to pick up the 7.2v NiHm Batteries for Rc Cars. Which is what, under research im pretty sure is what i need. and the workers at radio shack really knew what i was talking about, and what they were doing.
However, i wanted to know if ur choice is whats best. considering ppl have used double AA, and lithium ions, which are also at radio shack.
and of course more choices. Anyone care to shine some light on my simple question?

I also went to work on a lil paint project. Its pretty much my case idea.I dont exactly intend to change it but if the need arises then i will. Have a look see.

As to the layout of your system, not good. Preference given to on/off and reset and not to the buttons and d-pad. Not clever. You need to have the controls placed where they are comfortable to use and the system feels fairly balanced when being held - ie where the "P" and "R" are on your pic.

If you LED a PSone screen you need to be looking at more than 3 LED's, more like 6 or 8; or better still, don't do the LED mod at all as the screen looks far more uniformly bright then.

As to batteries, using alkaline AA's with a PSone screen isn't great, you will have just over an hour before the batteries die (5 cells ok, 6 might blow the PSone mobo); using NiMH cells is counterproductive and either risky or in the other end of the scale, may not power up your system due to their losing power fast after recharge. Li-ions are the way forward, or Li-po, but cost more and you need a charger (and protection circuit for the Li-po).
