Electronics Technician student needs help for project

I'm starting my first quarter as an electronics technician student, and I'm required to do two projects reflecting my interests in the field of electronics and where I'd like to end up. I'm a huge gamer, and have done a bit of modding, but now I'm looking to do something big for a project. I'm first quarter, so nothing huge, but I've heard that the NES has a lot of the circuit board that can be cut out, and since I've got a decent sized collection of systems, I'd figure I'd start out with making a portable game console.

I've got a few questions though:

1.) Does anyone have any schematics that they are willing to share with me

2.) What is the price range of doing a project like creating a portable game console?

I'd like to start off with either modding a Genesis or a NES. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome here, firstly.

There are many threads and stickies which will answer your questions, read and research, you won't regret it.

Check my sig if you like, lots of info on my site about the components you will need and how to rig them up; also detailed guide on making an N64 portable (or SNES). N64 boards are not big, needs a fair bit of work (so you can prove your skills for your assignment), whilst following a step-by-step guide to making one work easily. I will have other systems on my site in due course, however I have lots of projects being juggled at the moment!

Thanks! I'll take a look at your site. I'm going to buy the book today and look through that too. I've seen some projects around this board too, and some look pretty cool. I don't know if mine will look as clean looking as some of theirs, but I'll try!
