Err, what? Most cart slot mods are to relocate it further away, or to add a cart slot to a system that never had that type of connector in the first place.

Through-hole soldering is much easier than surface mount, I agree, but I'm not sure how that applies to cart mods.

You rewire it
So first you De-Solder it
Now that the Cart slot is Completely away from the board you stick its pins on the bottom thought PCB
Now it is easier to rewire, and the PCB can allow the Cart slot have extra durability

After a bit or reaserch on this I found

There is this pro way

Just straight up onto the pins

Or the New beginner/Sturdier way

Pins go through PCB, and solder on top of those

Ah, not long after posted in occurred to me you that you might have meant that. Other the size hit (unless you trim the protoboard PCB down a lot), I suppose it might help people that don't have vices or third hand tools to wire up a cart slot, or for someone that wanted to do it faster.

I am starting on doing this with a Genesis to see if its easier, im also doing a SNES to compare it with
Genesis=PCB
SNES=No PCB
I just need to split all of that wire first...
