Oh no!! my new Game Gear

Hi
I got a new(used) game gear but the only thing that happens when I switch it on it beebs and colors are flashing over the screen
What Can I do??

If you can't get a rebate on it, that may be the only thing it's good for. Maybe you could scrap it for pieces...

Well, if I don't know what's wrong with a system, the first thing I normally do is shake it gently(and listen for any sounds indicating a loose piece of metal shorting stuff out like my laptop had before I fixed it).

Next, I systematically clean it and then disconnect and firmly reconnect any possible connectors.

And if that doesent work turn it on but a game in and hit the back of it hard worked with my bgc and gba when they didnt work.

Open it up and see if there's anythging obviously out of place in there. If something is in there like a screw or a Dorito, it could cause havoc with the internals.
(For example, one time I got a stereo reciever for free because it did not work. I just had to re-solder a couple capacitors.)

WARNING: Do not attempt to open a game gear without removing the screw inside the cartrige slot. You _will_ bust your screen otherwise.

opened it nothing in ther but fells like some liquid (oil???????) I think ill remove that and screew it bck together

Try also powering the unit while it's still apart. If it doesn't power up, then you know you need some more work.

maybe try cleaning off the boards with rubbing alchohol it might just work.
