2600 converted to composite

Post by satan165 »

im sure this qualifies as small beans to a lot of people
but it was more involved then i thought it would be
but it worked on the 1st try
im pretty damn happy with myself right now

i mounted the pots and the resistor to the tiniest circuit board radio shack had
should be plenty of room for it in there

its funny right when i first put the game in and turned the thing on it didnt come up
it was a fluke however because i was seating the game very gingerly since there was no top on, i was trying to be gentle, too gentle it seemed
my heart sunk for a minute

i reseated it and it came up immediately

ive never even played starmaster before so i have no idea what the colors are supposed to look like
im goign to check my emulator now and/or AA for screenshots so i can tune the thing up

i was also wondering how others got the RCAs out of their console
i broke away a few links of that vent in the front (4 to be exact) and fit em thru there
kind of weird to have the cabling come out the front instead of the back but its actually more practical the way i have my console in respect to my TV

I've learned what Composite is!!!! Woo! Go me! :D

Nice mod, maybe you could try the 4x4 square mod by Ben for your atari too, to make it very small, just suggesting.

Its the format the video uses. It uses the yellow RCA plug. Its just the type of connector basically.

I 'm glad he doesn't visit these forums... He's a frend of mine at work. He also sold me an nes, 3 games and connections for ~$10.

EDIT: It is a 6-switch not a 4 switch.
Mine is like this one:

@chicken strip, also, he's left handed, so he's the only person I know of that's in his _right_ mind. LOL

does it even have the rounded edges at the bottom? If so, you have a heavy sixer, the best (and originalest) Atari out there! (other than one of Ben's, of course) :D

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

EDIT: Looks like it is _not_ a Heavy Sixer. I have the tele-games logo on the front.

I didn't know that composite is a term for what we call SCART here in the U.K, maybe thats why I didn't know, we don't usually use SCART, infact, over here, the PS2 is the console that uses an RGB plug, and that connects to a SCART anyway.
