Death Note 2: The Last Name

Post by xtrmgam3r360 »

Did anyone else go see this in theaters? I absolutely love Death Note and the movie was only shown twice at my theater, so I caught the final showing :D It was awesome but long, its the 1st 3 hour movie i've ever seen in a theater. :D

Aww... I didn't know it was out already! I would have loved to go see it... even though I've downloaded both of them already. But, I haven't found the time to watch either of them. I've watched the series, though... twice, actually.

Yeah, it was out  They took it out of theaters yesterday. I have only watched the series 1 1/2 times so far though, once by myself and the second half was while introducing my friend to the glorious world of Anime. :D. I also had both the movies on my computer although i'm still gonna buy them both on DVD.

Has anyone read the books? The show covers a lot of what happens in the books, but they're still more in depth than the show.

Right after the first time I watched the series all the way through (in Japanese with English subs), it got put onto Cartoon Network in English.

You're better off this way... don't you know about the "subs vs. dubs" rule? Subs win 95% of the time. 8) Cowboy Bebop had excellent dubs, though... absolutely amazing.

Sorry to double post, but I figured it was better than creating a new thread just to say...

OMFG WIN! I FINALLY watched the first Death Note movie last night, and I just finished watching The Last Name. BEST MOVIE EVER. I loved the anime, and it is probably my second, or maybe third favorite anime, but the movie has to be my favorite movie of all time. Anyone who hasn't seen it MUST. That's what I said about the anime, but at least two movies will take up much less of your time than the 37 episode anime. :P Also, if you're not an anime fan, it shouldn't matter. The movies are in fact live action, though they're still in Japanese. But that doesn't make it any different from any other foreign film, now does it? There is now no longer the "I just don't like anime" excuse!

Oh, and by the way, the second movie was much better than the first... the production value was far greater, and it shows... Don't let the seemingly low (ish... compared to the movies being pumped out of Hollywood these days...) production value of the first one turn you off from the second. The Last Name was actually done under Warner Brothers, so, that should tell you a little bit. Image You HAVE to see the first movie, though. The second picks up DIRECTLY where the first leaves off, so the second won't make much sense if you haven't seen the first.

DO IT.
